There’s an article by Michelle Tsai at Slate on the origins of turkey as the dish du jour at Thanksgiving day feasts. Personally, I will be eating tofurkey; but have a wonderful day regardless of your choice in comestibles.
I found tofukey not to be as bad as anticipated. We vegetarians have some trouble keeping up with the pack on Thanksgiving day. This year I just skipped the protein altogether.
When spending time with omnivorous relatives, I find it best to have a substitute in hand. It’s a lot easier than asking if everything else has meat in it. 😉
